Funding for Military Friendly Colleges in Minnesota
There are many military friendly colleges in Minnesota. According to the VA, in 2023, 154 Minnesota schools got Post 9/11 GI bill funds for over 10,860 students, totaling over $81 million.
There are six active programs offering benefits for veterans’ education. If eligible, all of these may be used to help fund a college education.

These 15 Minnesota-based military-friendly colleges are ranked according to the total amount of Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits granted in the 2023/2024 academic year. All the data is sourced from the National Center for Education Statistics. A significant number of these institutions actively participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which is an integral part of the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Through this program, both colleges and the VA collaborate to cover tuition and fees that go beyond what the GI Bill covers.
